Our Story
Built on Decades of Expertise
NR Engineering & Construction (PVT) Ltd was founded in 1996 by Mr. Rohana Rupasingha, a seasoned steel construction professional whose career began in 1988 and was forged through six years of international experience in Saudi Arabia.
From those early foundations, Mr. Rupasingha returned to Sri Lanka with a clear vision: to bring world-class steel construction standards to the local industry. What started as a single-person operation has grown into a trusted construction firm that has delivered over 150 projects spanning every corner of the island.
Today, NR Engineering is synonymous with durable, high-quality pre-fabricated steel structures — from expansive industrial warehouses and heavy-duty factory complexes to solar mounting systems and civil infrastructure. Every project carries the same commitment that has defined the company since day one: quality without compromise.
Foundations in Steel
In 1988, I committed myself to full time study of welding and fitting techniques at the Government Technical institute. After that I started my career journey as a X ray Welder at the Kolonnawa Oil Corporation complex, where I spent two years learning a great deal of useful skill.
International Expertise — Saudi Arabia
After that I worked in a government agency in Saudi Arabia for six years. Later I returned to Sri Lanka, I decided to seize the opportunity to start my own business, NR Engineering. Focusing on the construction of steel buildings, the enterprise has shown consistent performance, showing a successful and continuous journey so far.

Returning to Sri Lanka with international know-how, Mr. Rohana Rupasingha established NR Engineering & Construction (PVT) Ltd — bringing global standards to local industry.

Mr. Rohana Rupasingha
Founder & Director
With over 35 years in the steel construction industry, Mr. Rohana Rupasingha is the driving force behind NR Engineering's reputation for excellence. His career began with formal training in 1988 and was shaped by six years of international experience in Saudi Arabia before founding NR Engineering in 1999.
Mr. Nadun Sachinthaka Rupasingha
Director
Completed A/L at Colombo Nalanda College in 2020 and pursued a management HND at SLIT Campus, graduating in December 2024. Joined NR Engineering as Director in 2022, bringing fresh management expertise and modern business acumen to the company's operations and growth.

Chartered Architect with over 30 years of experience in architectural designs, interior designs, landscape designs and project management. Associate member of the Institute of Architects in Sri Lanka and accredited professional of Green Building Council SL.
